Public exhibitions on Stratford City, the
Athletes Village and Clays Lane were shown. Local people were
invited along to learn more about these projects. Visitors were
encouraged to feedback and to share their views on these important
changes to our borough.
Over both days Stratford Library played host to a preview of
Stratford City, with the developers,
Westfield Group, focusing on plans for the
'Town Centre Link' bridge.
Situated next to the 2012 Games site, the scheme will provide new
shopping, leisure and entertainment experiences alongside offices,
hotels, housing and community facilities.
At the same time, Stratford Circus hosted exhibitions
for the Athletes Village and Clays Lane. Developers LendLease,
together with partners, presented their masterplan for the Athletes
Village, which will house more than 17,000 athletes and officials
during the Games. The village will then be converted into a
residential community of 3,800 homes, of which at least 30% will be
affordable housing.
LendLease Europe chairman Nigel Hugill said: "The Athletes Village
is a key part of east London's 2012 legacy. We are determined to
create something amazing."
The Clays Lane development is situated just to the
north of the Athletes Village. After the Games it will provide 500
extra homes, together with community facilities, local shops and
public spaces.
All these regeneration schemes will transform the face
of east London, and your views are
important. |
