Tessa's Update

Hi everyone

I hope that you have enjoyed my introduction and welcome to our Web Page and that you will continue to visit us often to see how the Newham Sports Academy with Tessa Sanderson is shaping up and what we are getting up to. After you have read this my first chat with you all, I hope that you will not hesitate to get in touch come back to me or if I have missed anything that is happening in Newham and the surrounding Boroughs that will help to make my youngsters even greater than they are destined to become.

So far this year the Academy has got off to a great start! What is also nice is we have had the Indian Athletics Federation come to visit us as there are in Newham to prepare for the Beijing Olympics and are having some tremendous success. The best end result for them of course is if all nineteen of them who are here get picked for the Games. They are training at the Newham Leisure Centre and living at the UEL Campus in Docklands. So far the Indian coach is very pleased with how the athletes are performing and already have a couple who are definites for Beijing so if you see them around give them a nice smile and a hearty welcome.

As for the Academy coaches we are still searching the Borough for anyone preferably 15 years old and over to see if you have the ability to do any of the Olympic sports or maybe you just need a little push in the right direction to the sport that suits you. If you think you are the person then give us a shout we are always at hand to see you.

Remember I told you about 'Friend of the Academy'? This is a new way that I have been looking to attract new sponsors and donations to help the Academy. Our first 'Friend of the Academy' is TOWER HOMES who held a demo event on May 10th in Stratford at one of their new housing estates. The day was fabulous and Tower Homes were fantastic when showing the NSA members their new homes and in return the members did a few demonstrations to show how good they are shaping up in their sport. The end result was that these good people donated £5,000 to the NSA (Newham Sports Academy) and they have now become the first 'Friend of the Academy'. We do want more though and we are a nice bunch to be associated with. So, if you are looking to work with us give me a call.

The Academy coaches are experienced and have been in the international arena so have great knowledge of the sport they coach. They will always make you feel welcome even if you may think you are not the best you never know until you give it a try!

Right now it is busy times ahead for us but I will try to keep you updated with all that is happening in Academy members' performance land.

BE PART OF IT

Tessa
